Davie

Hi i’m DJ Davie. I present  THE ESSENTIAL DANCE SESSION  on Thursday nights from 7.30 – 9pm. I compile sets which are a blend of up to the minute and classic dance tracks mixed with current and recent hits from the UK Top 40. My musical influences started with the 80’s electro and new romantic scenes, sampled in many of todays top dance tracks. I pay tribute to these with 80’s and 90’s specials laced with trivia from those decades. Check out my show most Thursdays.

It’s great to be back and get the first show under my belt. Thanks to all for the support. This week i’m going back to the nineties. Not my favourate decade for dance music, but laced with some real classics. I will be dipping into the indie scene and there will be guitar bands in there too. Something for everyone. Join me this thursday and i’ll see if I can stir up some memories for you.

Yes! At last I will be back live and loud this week. I will be hitting your eardrums with some serious noise to blow away the cobwebs. In my absence the dance music scene has provided plenty of new ammo so expect an up tempo, top set, for this weeks show. My thanks go to Andrew for providing the technical knowhow to revisit previous shows over the past few weeks and to Victor for his assistance. Join me thursday – THE ESSENTIAL DANCE SESSION IS BACK!

    Hi

Unfortunately I am still unable to return just yet. I am really keen to get back on the air as soon as I can and will keep you posted. During my time off I missed a great opportunity, those who have been listening for a while will remember last year I had a visit from my brother Malc, who made a career in broadcasting and now lives in Japan. He joined me in the studio for a Japan special and was a great co host. This year he visited again (fortunately for him he was here during the earthquakes etc) but unfortunately I could not present a show with him due to being ill. He runs his own internet only radio station which has greatly expanded since he was last here. You can check it using the link below. Meantime Andrew our IT genius has managed to pull out some of my previous shows to re visit. So stick with me and I will return soon.

Details of the show will be posted here and on the programme schedule.

  20. DJ Davie says:

I hope you all had a merry christmas. Apologies if you tuned in for my christmas special, which was unable to be broadcast due to broadband difficulties (It’s in the can for next year, along with my halloween special!). This thursday (30th) I will be doing a review of the year with my top 20 dance tracks from 2010. Join me (technology permitting) 7.30 – 9pm.

  21. DJ Davie says:

This week it’s a Christmas special, of course, examining the obsession the UK has with the Christmas number 1 single. I’m adding a twist with a tribute to good songs that didn’t quite make it due to X Factor karaoke songs or horrendous novelty singles. Tune in 7.30 – 9pm Thusday 23rd.

  22. DJ Davie says:

This week the Essential Dance Session is back in its usual slot with of top dance and chart tracks from Nicole Sherzinger, Far East Movement, Rihanna, Armin Van Buren, Darren Styles and many more. Join me for 90 minutes of the best dance music on 97.4fm and online.

  23. Hobby Horse says:

    DJ Davie,
Looking forward to tuning into your next show. Was hoping to catch your belated birthday show, but was battling the elements coming home from Colditz, which just wasn’t the same latterly!

  24. DJ Davie says:

The Essential Dance Session will be jumping into Simons’ slot from 7 – 8pm on Tuesday 7th December instead of my usual Thursday slot. This week i’m doing a belated birthday show of “Kickass kickoff tracks” from my shows over the last eleven months. Tune in for an hour of top, dance, 80’s and 90’s music.

  25. DJ Davie says:

Thanks Alastair for your gig review on AHA. Can’t believe I missed out on that concert!. I’m out of town for a couple of weeks but will do an on air review on my return.

Regular listeners will know I like to kick off every show with a “big tune” and when I return I will do a belated DCR birthday show, re visiting the “Kickass, Kickoff Tracks” from my shows over the last eleven months.

There should be room in there for requests if anyone wishes to make any.

Keep an eye on the programme shedule and my presenters page for news.

  26. Alastair says:

Enjoying your 80s session tonight. We were at the A-ha farewell concert at the Armadillo last night. I was definately in the minority there as the audience must have been about 80% girls.
I was there with Vivien my partner, although she threatened to dump me when she saw how kind the last twenty five years have been to Morten, not to mention the rest of the band. Her chidhood crush was instantly re-kindled along with everyone else’s judging by the uproar when he appeared on stage with the obligitory 80s shades, sharp suit and white shoes.
Their set started with The Sun Always Shines on TV and continued through a varied selection of songs old and new including The Living Daylights, Cry Wolf, Foot of The Mountain and Butterfly ending with Take On Me. An up to the minute laser/LED lightshow with huge screens behind the band added to the mood while keeping the 80s roots alive with black and white and colour live images of the band and audience.
A great night and a shame it’s to be their last tour. Morten was quite nostalgic as he waved goodbye and thanked everyone for their support through the years which seem to me to have passed in the blink of an eye since Take on Me in 1985.

  27. "Dancing is all in the mind" Dad Qoute says:

My Dad Says You should see the way I am DANCING IN MY HEAD aaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. DJ Davie says:

    Hi.

This weeks Essential Dance Session is going to be an 80’s special, inviting you to ‘dance like your dad at your cousins wedding, after the alcohol has loosened up those old hips’!The playlist will include hits from OMD, Robert Palmer, The Associates, AHA, The Stranglers, David Bowie and many more. So tune in for a trip down memory lane!

  29. DJ Davie says:

Hi, just a ‘heads up’ for my show on Thusday 11th Nov. This week it’s a special covering tracks used in TV adverts, so a wide variety of music from all genres(with one or two dance tracks in there for good measure). So tune in and see if you can identify the product before the end of each track for a ‘clever cloggs’ on air shout!
