REESE

I am doing work experience with Dunnon radio as part of my module for University in work related learning.
I graduated from college in Sound Engineering, & after a year out, & deciding how i wanted to progress.
I then returned to University to study Music Technology at the University of the West of Scotland (Piasley/ Ayr Campus). I also cover different aspects of filming- from recording, editing, sound design, & post production & I am in the final year of my studies.
In the work related learning I will develop & enhance the skills I have gained over the duration of my course, & put into practice area’s of law that cover broadcasting regulations, & further develop the practical aspects that the music industry would expect of  me in a work environment. Working with Dunoon radio has already presented me with some challenges & hopefully, the skills I aquire will enable me to develop confidence in the entertainment business.

This week we played the first track from Matthew James Scott, the track “Jenny we all know” from his recently released EP. I will be playing more of these tracks over the next few weeks from this young singer /songwriter.Matt is also going to be touring very shortly. I will keep you posted with this information & add links here very shortly.
So I hope you will join Sarah & myself every Thursday from 12-3pm, & hear what we have to say.

Sarah will feature artist Dean Owens & our favourite Elliot Schnieder also.

  3. GO ACTIVE ON THURSDAY CHRONICALS says:

This week in the studio we will have Elizabeth Bell from GO ACTIVE, Hunter’s Quay. GO ACTIVE has plenty to offer its holidaymakers & locals alike.
The summer holidays have begun & for those who are looking for something to do, this has plenty to offer every-one, from kids to teenagers, & mum & dad too.
The weather of recent weeks hasn’t been good, but this is the perfect solution to this problem……the majority of activities are indoor, the cost of the activities are very reasonable (prices starting at £3.75 to £10 depending on activity) & the how long you want to do it for is up to you.
If you just want to whilst away an hour they can offer that also. The range of activities is quite extensive, & they are from Dunoon town centre 10-15 mins drive, or if you want to enjoy the outdoors about a 25-30min walk.
There is swimming, aero ball, body zorbing, water walkers, archery & so much more, & for the more adventurous of you there is quad mania, stalking etc. Some will last for the hour, but passes are available for certain activities. Some of the activities are off-site so please do check with them first. (this is mainly activities aimed at older children/adults).
Mum/Dad can watch from nearby, & sit & relax with a coffee for those who don’t want to go far away, the coffee shop has a viewing window into the play area, & there are seats outside to enjoy the sun when it shines so you are close by to your little ones. To hear more please do tune in with Sarah & myself this Thursday.
I have tried the archery myself & it is not as easy as you think, although I had fun doing it, but don’t let that put you off – they have trained staff on site to help you, & I for one can’t wait to go back & try my hand at some more of their other activities.

  26. INTERNATIONAL WOMAN'S DAY says:

International Women’s Day is about celebrating women’s achievements. My 2 guests for that day were Angie Smith & Suzie Tarkenter. Angie re-trained after studying in holistic therapy to become a forestry technician. It is a very skilled & physically demanding job. Angie’s qualifications enable her to operate equipment such as chainsaws (No easy task!). Her work is varied & being outdoors is something that she loves to do.
My other guest was Suzie Tarkenter who has had a cochlea implant. Suzie’s hearing loss was gradual, & she had hearing aids before. The cohlea implant is making a dramatic difference to Suzie’s life & to those around her. Her friends & family are wonderfully supportive of her, they encourage Suzie to use devices such as mobile phones (something most of us take for granted). The cochlea implant has enabled to Suzie gain an increase in confidence, social situations are less awkward as her hearing improves gradually. If you want to find out more about Suzie’s story you can follow the links below. We hope to have both Angie & Suzie on again & hear how Suzie gets on, & that any technological advances made will continue to improve those whose lives are affected by hearing loss.
Both of them are remarkable in their own right & their stories were fantastic to hear, & we had a lot of fun in the studio with them.
