BASIL TO CO – HOST WITH FIONA

World famous German radio presenter, Basil Wolfrhine, from SchottenRadio is heading to Inverclyde tonight . Basil who has interviewed famous Scottish acts such as Skerryvore, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, RunRig and many more and has hosted many music festivals all over the world has taken a keen interest in local band Reely Jiggered and has been in regular contact with Alison, Fiona and Scott since hearing their music on iTunes and YouTube.

Basil,whose nickname is Wolfman, is the creator of ScottenRadio which has 50,000 cable subscribers said,”I get hundreds of requests for soprano and fiddler Alison McNeill and Reely Jiggered’s music since giving the band airplay and they have a big following in Germany so I decided to catch up with Reely Jiggered while I was here in Scotland on business”.

Fiona who is the guitarist of the band has her own Folk and Celtic Fusion programme here on Dunoon Community Radio every Tuesday evening and has invited Basil to co-host tonights programme

Dunoon Community Radio Presenters RCDJ TRISH and DJ DAVIE try on their Rock ‘n  Roll wigs in readiness for next Saturday

Yes Every one it is that time of year again and the Tutti Frutti Tour is about to Roll into town once again and to celebrate DCR97.4fm presenters will be reminding you about this wonderful cause and playing a lot of Rock n’ Roll.

After the success of last years fantastic 60s theme Tutti Frutti Tour this year the cast of over 20 dancers will present a 1950s Juke Joint on the back of a lorry, donated by Cairndow’s Inverdell LTD,

Dressed in 50s outfits the troupe will remind folk of a certain age and introduce the rest to those wonderful sounds and dance moves of a period known the world over as the Golden Age Of Rock n‘ Roll.                                                                                                                                                            Last year the Tutti Frutti Tour raised over £5000 for the charity CHAS and this year the expectations are for a higher amount. The two hour show will start off for the first of three shows at noon at Loch Lomond Shores then rock and Roll on to Dunoon’s Argyll  Gardens for 4.00pm where the folk of Dunoon will be treated to the Golden Age of Rock n’ Roll and then to Strachur’s Clachan Brea to do it all again. At each of the three Roadshows volunteers will be asking you to donate change into the collection tins to help Robins House children’s hospice in Balloch which is run by the Childrens Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

There is also a wonderful Raffle with fantastic prizes including a Champagne lunch and Sea plane flight, Dinner bed and breakfast at one of the poshest hotels in Scotland ,cash and lots more, there is even a signed Tutti Frutti Tour Poster signed by no other than Rock Legend Alvin Stardust who was most impressed when he got to meet a few of the dance troupe at his recent visit to the Legends Window in the Marshall’s Furniture Store below the Argyll Business Centre the home of DCR97.4.

Many of the DCR97.4fm presenters will be going to Greet and Meet the Tutti Frutti Tour at the Band Stand wearing their Rock and Roll Wigs and shall be interviewing members of the cast for a future broadcast please come over and say hello and if you are wearing a Rock n’Roll Wig we give you a mention on DCR97.4fm we will also take a wee photo to be put in ourTutti Frutti Photo gallery,  but if you can’t wait till Saturday members of the troupe will be visiting the DCR97.4fm Studio on Wednesday when they will explain why they do this and bring listeners up to date

MARIA MARCIANO VISITS DCR

Frankie Gee is pleased to announce that he will be joined by an upcoming young performer from Glasgow on his Sunday Jazz Show. Maria Marciano was discovered in May this year by Tiger Tim, while singing  Empire State of Mind on Karioke; who was so impressed that he invited her on to his last show at Radio Clyde along with some other very well known names.  Maria has since been invited to sing at various venues including in George Square, Glasgow. Skerryvore Comes to Dunoon

The popular Trad-rock band Skerryvore return to Dunoon on Friday 2nd July to perform in the Queens Hall the day after they launch their new album in Glasgow. . They are an award wining Scottish Band with blazing bagpipes, fiddle and accordians, electrically fused with funky rhythms and soul-gripping songs. They will be supported by Canned Haggis. They first performed in Dunoon for the closing dance at the MOD 2006 where their fast paced ceildh music kept the party going into the small hours. They have gone on to tour the world and we are pleased to say they will be popping in to see us at DCR before their performance. We also have 2 pairs of tickets including back stage passes for the concert to give away, if you want to win these all you have to do is send in your name and contact number by email, text or white post box and the two lucky winners will be drawn out of the hat on Thursday night.

IT’S SUMMER TIME!

Tickets cost £1 a go for a 4 number lottery – 3 correct numbers will win you £20 while 4 correct numbers will win a share of the jackpot of £100. Since going live broadcasting from our wee corridor here in The Penthouse Suite of the Argyll Business Centre visitors to the Website have asked mainly one question “When can we listen to DCR on line?”.


It is with great satisfaction that we are able to announce that with the help of our good friends at The Dunoon Observer and Argyllshire Standard you can now listen in.

The Observer has just launched their new website and has added many features including up to date news, forums, Dunoon Webcam and from 6pm today they will be streaming our live radio broadcasts on our behalf.

ABBAMANIA COMES TO DUNOON

Victor and Douglas love nothing more than an excuse to don their sparkly flares and medallions so with ABBAMANIA coming to Dunoon on Saturday 13th February they jumped at the chance to take a week long trip back down memory lane and relve their youth?! So listen in for special features, competitions and of course plenty of ABBA tunes to sing a long too, to get you in the mood. But be quick if you want a ticket for the show at the Queen’s Hall as they are apparently going fast.

Celtic Connections has just started in Glasgow and will run until the 31st January 2010. Bringing together over 1500 artists from more than 30 countries to celebrate their musical connections. From established artistes to young unknowns, from traditional to contemporary it would be hard not to find something to take your fancy. Celtic Music   Radio who provide us with our day time service are broadcasting live every day from the Exhibition Hall in the Royal Concert Hall as well as covering some of the concerts. We will be staying with them until 7pm every night as they cover Danny Kyle’s Open Stage which gives new musical talent the chance to shine and win one of six places to perform in the final night showcase concert and the opportunity for a support slot at next years festival.
