The competitions began on Saturday with fiddlers, pipers and children; and I am pleased to report that 2 of Cowals youngsters where successful with Arlene Mackecknie from Strachur winning the Bronze Badge in the Fiddle Open under 13 playing a slow gaelic air and march, strathspey reel competition. While Iona Cairns from Dunoon Grammar School also won a Bronze Badge in the Sabhal Mor Ostaig Silver Medal Poetry Recitation for under 13 learners.
