COWAL HIGHLAND GATHERING SATURDAY 2012
It is Saturday morning, it is 8am and the park is all ready starting to fill up, the stall holders are setting up, the dancers are filling into the stadium in preparation for the Argyll Championships and the World Championships, the RSPBA are ready to start, the sound checks are taking place and the spectators are setting themselves up in the prime spots on the hillside
The sun is shining and the park has filled up with noise coming from all over the park. and the first set of results are in for the Argyll Championship (County) Highland Dancing Competition for the 7 – 13 years 1st was Libby MacLean, Dunoon and 2nd was Linzi Cameron, Campbletown
In the 13 – 16 years 1st was Laura-Jane McColl, Dunoon and 2nd Courtney Cawden, Dunoon and in the 16 years and over 1st was Kirsty Barrett, Rothesay and 2nd was Gina McMurchy, Campletown

2nd: Morgan Bamford (Australia Cup )
3rd: Chantal Watt (Australia Cup Judith Meikle Trophy )
World Junior Championships
1st: Anthea Bundy (Argyllshire Standard Challenge trophy )
2nd: Bevin Wiley (Argyllshire Standard Challenge trophy Urquhart Challenge Trophy )
3rd: Ruthanne Sweeney (Beattie Bowl Challenge trophy)
World Juvenile Championships
1st: Ellis Hayes (Lawrie Challenge Trophy )
2nd : Abbie MacNeil (Castle Toward Cup )
3rd: Maegan Sweeney (McNiven Cuthbertson Cup)
In the Pipe Band Championships the Grade 1 results are
1st Boghall and Bathgate
2nd Field Marshall Montgomery
3rd Strathclyde Police
4th St Laurence O’Toole
5th Scottish Power
6th Inveraray and District
Well done to Cowal Pipe Band who won best drumming corp for Grade 3B and the Champion of Champions for Grade 3B Drumming Corp as well as retaining their first place for the Cowal Championship Grade 3
