COWAL INTERNATIONAL YOUTH SOCCER FESTIVAL 2010
This weekend saw the rsurrection of the Cowal Soccer Festival which was one of the most successful and prestigous soccer tournaments in the 70’s with teams from across the United Kingdom, Europe and USA participating. This tournament involved many young players who went on to be succesful at a national and international level including Bobby Russell (Glasgow Rangers), Dave McCreery (Manchester Utd) and Tony Fitzpatrick (Ipswich and Scotland). At its height 5000 people watched the final and the organisers are hoping that this tournament will again grow into a spectacular feast of football. Jim Diamond will be at the stadium during the day with some of the original programmes, see if you can spot some local faces.
This year there are teams from across Scotland including Dunoon, Greenock, St Andrews and a team from Hajduk in Croatia. So come along and cheer on the teams.

Am I right Did the DYFL LOTTO ladies say on air that the LOTTO is to finish through lack of support. That is such a shame. why are Dunoon people not supporting by buying the tickets after all football is your game although Victor did say less people watch Shinty but more people buy Shinty lotto tickets ?
We had a similar problem with our ticket sales a few years back and helped solve it by having a bill blitz putting the bills appealing for people to support us and advertising the premises were you could buy tickets, this helped enough to make the cash prizes more attractive.
We now have additional monthly prizes donated by local stores and a couple of the local diners give you cookies when you buy the tickets. The local radio is also a great help promoting the sale of tickets at games, concerts and summer fairs etc. Hope this is helpful to you. Trinity Kane
